Having lived in Mainland China near Beijing,
Royce brings experiences from around the world. He has explored rainforests in
many countries and has taken numerous solitary backpacking
expeditions to meet tribal cultures in rainforests in Southeast Asia and South America to document
the plants used for food and medicine (Ethnobotany). Royce has had a lifelong dedication to
exploring the natural world. He began interpreting nature for groups as a junior trail guide in 1975 at
the Heard Natural Science Museum in Fairview, Texas. In 1990 he also began interpreting nature at
the Dallas Nature Center and in 1993 accepted a position as Naturalist/Program Director for the
Dallas Nature Center. During his tenure with the Dallas Nature Center, Royce continued his studies
with his mentor and close friend, Dr. Geoffrey Stanford, Director Emeritus. Royce resigned his position with the Dallas Nature
Center in 1995 to begin a freelance environmental education service (Wild Vision) with his wife, LuCretia.
LuCretia has taught computer software and operating system classes with both a computer retail company and the Dallas County Community College District. She has contracted for projects as well as computer training with individuals, small privately owned companies and large corporations. LuCretia occasionally interprets wildlife and now manages daily office operations including scheduling for Wild Vision. She also created, updates & maintains our web site. LuCretia receives daily flora and fauna updates from Royce, whom she sometimes refers to as a "fact peddler".
Jimmy moved to Texas in
1965 from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a lifelong Naturalist, Jimmy donated his
skills for over 10 years to The Dallas Nature Center and has worked with
Wild Vision since our inception. Jimmy began working for a professional
potter in 1983 and started his own pottery business in 1985. He exhibits his art
at various showings throughout the Nation. Prior to developing his pottery
business, he worked at local zoos with many years spent in the reptile house at
the Dallas Zoo.
